| CANINE
GOOD CITIZEN $45 per hour and/or test |

The
Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program, established
in 1989, is an American Kennel Club program
to promote responsible dog ownership and to
encourage the training of well-mannered dogs.
A dog and handler team must take a short behavioral
evaluation of less than half an hour; dogs who
pass the evaluation earn the Canine Good Citizen
certificate, which many people represent after
the dog's name, abbreviating it as CGC; for
example, "Fido, CGC".
The evaluation consists
of ten objectives. All items must be completed
satisfactorily or the team fails. Test items
include:
* Accepting a friendly
stranger.
* Sitting politely for petting.
* Allowing basic grooming procedures.
* Walking on a loose lead.
* Walking through a crowd.
* Sitting and lying down on command and staying
in place.
* Coming when called.
* Reacting appropriately to another dog.
* Reacting appropriately to distractions.
* Calmly enduring supervised separation from
the owner.
If all ten objectives
are met, the handler can apply for a certificate
and special dog tag from the AKC stating that
the dog has earned the CGC.

| CLICKER

Clicker
training is the process of training a dog using
a conditioned reinforcer ("Clicker",
a small mechanical noisemaker) and Positive Reinforcement.
It was originally used in training animals such
as dolphins and whales, for which traditional
methods of training are not useful. An extremely
powerful training technique it has seen a huge
explosion of use in Europe and is extremely popular
within the "Dog World" in USA. SouthWest
Canine Services has experienced instructors in
Clicker Training. |

Pets & people using dirty yards track poop
into the house.
Dog
faeces carry harmful infections, the most widely
known being Toxocariasis. Human Toxocariasis
is potentially a serious infection and is a
direct consequence of soil or sand contamination
with faeces carrying eggs of the parasite. Toxocara
eggs are not infectious until they mature, which
usually takes at least 2–3 weeks after
they have been deposited by a dog. Dog faeces
will only contaminate the soil when it has been
left on the ground for this period of time,
so a routine clean up schedule is important. |

Sitting with a difference.....You can collect
your dog up till 1.00am! Need your dog pet sat
while you are away, want to know they will be
cared for and offered a safe and comfortable
environment. Then our service is for you, out
of "normal" hours sitting.
